Puppets!

We had an impromptu puppet show in our class yesterday afternoon! 

Earlier that day, and unbeknownst to me, a group of children had worked together to make some puppets. They had worked together on a storyline and had shown some great collaboration skills in the process.  Needless to say, the audience loved it.

Today we decided to give the children a few ideas, a few materials and a lot of time to make puppets. They went in different directions and worked with intention as they created. Here they are in action:

It's great when the children's initiatives spark so much energy to the rest of the class. Learning from each other is one of the best parts of being a member of a class community. 

But...what are puppets without a show?

The children were certainly keen to perform for their peers! They were busy making tickets...

Finally, it was show time. Mr Wilcox came, and so did K2 SKi- what a surprise!

There were more hopeful performers, but 2pm just came too quickly. I can't wait to see what happens next week. :)

In case you're wondering...

Puppet making was a choice this morning that not everyone chose. Other children decided to paint and make models. I saw some great enthusiasm and team work in these areas too. Please have a look:

If your child brought home a model today, please be sure to ask him or her about it. There is usually so much more thought and detail than is immediately obvious.

Thank you to all who made it to our work share yesterday. The children loved having you come to their class. I hope that you got a little insight into some of the things that we are up to in GSt.
