Sorting

K2 kids are expert sorters! The children have found many ways to sort a variety of objects this week. Can you figure out how these items were sorted?

We can sort by colour. -Shay

The children tried sorting the same objects in more than one way. Many of them also recorded their work on the iPads using the app Doodlecast. 

We found out that even recycling can be sorted! Here are some recycling bins that we found at school. 

Next week, the children will work on asking survey questions and collecting data. By the end of this Mathematics unit, the children will have worked on representing data, carrying out a data investigation, sorting and classifying, and using data to solve problems. 

Every day we collect, represent and interpret information about the world around us. This helps us to understand events and make decisions. Children are naturally curious and love collecting materials and information. Working with data helps them to understand the world and the people in it.

Reminders:

- The sign-up for Parent-Teacher Conference is now open. If you haven't yet signed up for a time, please follow the link that was sent by the school in an email earlier this week. The conferences will take place on Wednesday, 9 December.

- Our first Workshare is next Friday at 10:30! The children are already very excited to have you visit our room and find out more about what they've been working on. We have allotted an hour, but some families may finish sooner than others.
